RAV in the mud... Gallery →
Review:
Night 2 camping in Mt Grenfell historic picnic area (no camping). Gorgeous outback night with a spectacular light show of the stars and our 1st shooting star. Light morning showers are no problem for us we are under the sheltered picnic roof.
Only obstactal is the muddy creek crossing go RAV go!
The Ngiyambaa Walkabout track leads to the top of a ridge with excellent 360 degree views of the vast peneplain.
Magnificent examples of Aboriginal paintings colour the caves at Mount Grenfell Historic Site. The three main art sites are within an easy 500 metre walk from the carpark.

The city of Broken Hill has developed as a vibrant Mecca for artists and filmmakers, a long way from its roots as the site of the richest deposit of silver, lead and zinc the world has ever seen.
Today Broken Hill is still a working town, mining is still a major economic driver and in conjunction with the environment, agriculture, art and tourism - the city is buzzing!

Approx 5km's from Menindee the 1st outback town on the Darling River, a personal favourite National Park. Gallery →
Review: Meander amongst the massive river red gums that silhouette the Darling River or wander along the lake's shores and over red sand dunes all of which have withstood the test of time; enduring droughts, floods and witnessing history unfold.
Sit back and relax while watching the birds flit past, kangaroos and emus, where red sand reaches up and touches the clear blue sky.
Activities: Explore the Aboriginal sites and European structures, such as the Kinchega Woolshed.
(No Dogs allowed, Bix you have to be very quite and hide.)

2 nights of camping/fishing and bathing in the lake. Gallery →
Review: Pamamaroo lake is larger in size and joins Copi Hollow Lake. Caught loads of carp in the lake using prawn as bait. The prized perch are out number by the carp in the lake. ![]()
My trusty short black rod and hand real was a smashing success with catching the abundant carp at the lakes edge. Light sinker and a long shank hook. Water temparture was luke warm great for a bathe.

RAV rolled, rolled, rolled and rolled. Gallery →
RIP RAV:About 15km from Menindee township is the Mendindee-Wilcannia Rd 130km of corrugated dirt gravel road. We had approximately travelled 90kms on the Menindee-Wilcannnia Rd towards Wilcannia, when I swerved to avoid a mud mound in the road.
Resulting in loose of steering control, hit the side of the road on the drivers side causing the RAV to roll on the drivers side, roof, then back onto the wheels. RAV's body work is written off but she mechanical fine and still drives her self on to the rescue truck. Take care on this long dirt road, things to remember:
Stay in locked 4 wheel drive
Do not speed
Have good wheel tread

About:When you're visiting Wellington, you can't miss the magnificent Wellington Caves.
If you like to broaden your mind and see amazing phenomenon, you will find the guided Cave Tours an unforgettable experience.
the Phosphate Mine is a completely restored underground mine. From the moment you put on a hard hat, you enter a new world at one of the State's most intriguing tourist attractions. The mine not only features the workings of a World War 1 mine, but bone fragments and fossils from 300,000 years ago. Paleontologists from all over the world have been making pilgrimages to this cave since the 1930s and now you can too!
Seen as a forerunner in cave and mine restoration, the Phosphate Mine has allowed thousands of visitors to experience the conditions hardy miners endured when they opened the mine early last century. More than 6000 tonnes of phosphate were removed for use as fertilizer.
